Come build a Beaver Dam Analog (BDA)! This is an opportunity to talk through the process of siting and building BDAs, look at past work, and likely also do some adaptive management. VLT, TNC, and the Franklin County NRCD installed BDAs in small tributaries of the Missisquoi River in 2021 and 2023 and performed maintenance in 2022 and 2024. This time around we will be practicing reading the riverscape and determining where BDAs will be most effective – and then we’ll put them there! This is a get-your-hands-dirty event so come prepared with gloves, waders if you have them, warm layers, tall boots, and maybe a change of clothes (at least extra socks).
