Every fall thousands of migratory songbirds, including the Hermit Thrush, our state bird, make their way south to warmer winter grounds. The Pratt Refuge in Duxbury is a birding hotspot and stopover for many of these migratory birds.
Fred and Chris Pratt, longtime birding enthusiasts and thoughtful land stewards, conserved the property with the Vermont Land Trust a quarter of a century ago. Fred donated the refuge to VLT after Chris passed away in 2017. Join us in remembering the generosity of Chris and Fred, who passed away last autumn, by strolling the trails and appreciating the natural beauty of the refuge.
On the guided walks, we’ll identify birds by sight and sound. Led by veteran birders with the local birding group The Mad Birders, birders of all experience levels are sure to enjoy the event, as this is an excellent fall migration location. Refreshments to follow.
