Join VLT and The Vermont Center for Ecostudies to learn all about identifying butterflies, as well as how to support their efforts to document the status of Vermont’s butterflies. The Second Vermont Butterfly Atlas is a five-year initiative (2023-2027) aimed at updating our knowledge of butterfly species and populations in Vermont. In just the first two years, dedicated volunteers have discovered three species never before recorded in the state and contributed nearly 23,000 butterfly observations.
This event will include an introduction to the Butterfly Atlas as well as a guided butterfly survey walk, and a hands-on demonstration of how to submit data. Participants are encouraged to download the eButterfly app and create an account, so they can learn how to submit observations during and after this training workshop.
This event is perfect for anyone who is curious to learn more about butterflies, citizen science or their local environment.
