Vermont Land Trust, in partnership with The Bobolink Project is holding a “Conservation Speed Dating” event for landowners in the southern Champlain Valley.

What is Conservation Speed-dating? The overarching goal for this type of workshop is to introduce landowners and producers to their local technical service providers (TSPs) and conservation practitioners, with a focus on organizations that can provide technical and financial support for climate resiliency, habitat improvement, and agricultural management projects. Each participant will have 5-10 minutes with each TSP to discuss the specific opportunities and challenges of their property. TSPs will include: The Bobolink Project, Champlain Valley Farmer Coalition, UVM Extension, eBird, Audubon Vermont Bird and Bee Friendly Farming, Audubon Vermont Bird Friendly Maple, Otter Creek NRCD and The Ruffed Grouse Society.

Participants will leave with an informative and inspirational roadmap for expanding conservation practices on their landscapes and in their operations. They will be armed with the knowledge of who to follow up with and what incentive opportunities and cost-share programs are available to support them.

This workshop is funded by a grant that is aimed at increasing capacity for grassland habitat management in the Champlain Valley, so the ideal participant would have at least twenty acres of contiguous grassland habitat within a mosaic of other forested, shrub, wetland, and riparian habitats, and an interest in managing some of their property for wildlife.

There is no cost to attend this event and food will be provided. But space is limited and not all landowners will necessarily be accepted.
