Hunter Wilson has joined as Legal Project Manager

Hunter joined VLT after earning a Master of Food and Agriculture Law and Policy from the Vermont Law and Graduate School. She brings valuable experience as a former environmental consultant and farmworker. As part of VLT’s legal team, she collaborates with landowners and community groups on the legal aspects of land conservation and stewardship.

Hunter lives in South Royalton. Outside of work, she enjoys growing flowers and food, hiking with her dog, and paddle boarding the White River.

“I deeply value VLT’s commitment to the interconnectedness of community and the land,” Hunter says. “This approach recognizes that caring for the land is inherently tied to the well-being of the people who depend on it. To me, this reciprocity is fundamental to creating a resilient and regenerative future where both people and the environment thrive as one.”

Rachel Mullis is Communications Director

Rachel comes to VLT with more than a decade of experience leading communications campaigns and developing strategies and content for sustainability-focused organizations. Her past experience includes crafting several lead stories for VLT. She has also written nature-related articles for local media, such as Seven Days.

Rachel holds a BA in English from UC Berkeley and an MFA in Writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts. As VLT’s communications director, Rachel leads our storytelling across multiple channels.

She is currently enrolled in the 2024-2025 Lower Winooski River cohort of the Vermont Master Naturalist program. Her Burlington backyard has been visited on at least one occasion by an exceedingly rare-in-Vermont Skillet Clubtail dragonfly.

“I’m thrilled to join an organization that helps protect our state’s natural beauty and biodiversity while promoting more resilient communities and a sustainable economy,” Rachel says. “VLT demonstrates the power of locally-led, nature-positive solutions to address complex global challenges.”

Together, we're protecting Vermont from the ground up!
