Join us for an urban tree ID adventure

Without leaves, it can be challenging to identify trees in winter! Join us for an urban tree ID adventure where we’ll learn how to identify tree species and cultivars planted as street trees and those found in more forested settings.

We’ll start on the University of Vermont campus and discuss the three B’s of winter tree ID: bark, branching and buds. Then we’ll make our way down to Centennial Woods, identifying the street trees along our way, to continue honing in on the distinguishing characteristics of many different species that grow in more forested settings.

Trip Leaders

You’ll walk away feeling more confident identifying trees this winter. No experience necessary! Bring questions and your own experiences to share.

The Vermont Land Trust welcomes and affirms all regardless of their age, culture, abilities, ethnic origin, gender, gender identity, marital status, nationality, race, religion, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status.
